Education

BA (hons) Photography – During 3rd yr of degree at Cumbria Institute of the Arts, I have experienced a wide range of photographic styles, and accomplished other skills both photographic and social. I have uncovered my style, working on advertising editorial based images, and building a strong and sophisticated portfolio.

Diploma in Foundation Art and Design – A merit accomplished at Newcastle – under – Lyme College.

A Levels – As levels in History, Psychology, and Art Textiles successfully achieved, and A2 level in Art Textile, and Psychology.

Photography Commissions

Toyota (Magnas Inter) – I was appointed through word of mouth from past clients, and this involved a series of shots to be used in an in-house editorial publication and website. The client requested shots of the opening ceremony of a new factory line, as well as speech and aerial images of employees and the factory floor. (Digital images taken).

Biffa – I traveled around the UK to different sites owned by the client. At each site a small award presentation was conducted, and I was to document these for the client’s in-house “Biffa Buzz” magazine, as well as for the website. (Digital images taken).
Cumbria Institute of the Arts – My own college employed me to document a day of Health, Food, and Art at a local attraction in Cumbria. This event was attended by some of the staff of Cumbria Institute of the Arts, and the images of the day would be used for college publications. (Digital images taken).

Wedding Photography – I have undertaken commissions over the past years for close friends or family. It was reception work capturing the true essence of the day from a more relaxed point of view, but with professional outcomes. I used a range of medium from digital to traditional hand developed black and white prints. I found all of these experiences very rewarding.

Voluntary Work

Teaching – I started work at a local primary school teaching simple art classes to children with both physical and mental disabilities. I continued once a week for a year, and in the time the children learnt basic art techniques I learnt simple sign langue, different ways to communicate, and patience. I really value this experience.

Committee Member/Chairman – In my second year of my degree a small group of 12 gathered together to produce an exhibition outside of our course, with the aim to get our work to the public. Within this exhibition group a we formed a committee and I was chairman. We made decisions as a committee but my role was to provide certain control to situations, and guide the project. This was called .RAW
